A Bunch of Drawings

I was going to weave out the better drawings, but in the end couldn’t be bothered, so I’m just posting up all of it. The first pitch for this stuff is in a week. Don’t think I’ll be showing much of this though.

Caricatures
November 7, 2009 – 11:22 amYeah, yeah. I’ve been catching up with scanning everything from the past month or two. All these were done from photographs. I really want to get better at drawing caricatures – these have been coming out a bit flat. Fun as hell to do though.
Incidentally, the Abertoir poster made the BBC Wales front page. Pretty neat.

Fanart time
August 17, 2009 – 10:08 pmI’ve been really into Vocaloid stuff recently. I’m going to paint the first one eventually.
I did this one first, and I don’t really like it. Based off of Love is War, but it really doesn’t do that song justice. The rough:
Some K-ON! It is the best selling anime TV series of all time, after all. Such is the power of schoolgirls with guitars I guess.
If you don’t get the point of this picture, consider yourself normal.

A little bit of animation
June 25, 2009 – 1:33 pmFinally got around to rendering this thing. I animated this in just under 5 weeks, last Christmas. While I wish I could take credit for all the neat designs and settings, I can’t. The whole thing was taken from scenes and designs out of the truly awesome Gunnerkrigg Court comic. It’s worth pointing out I’m not affiliated, endorsed or any such thing with the comic or its author – I’m just a fan – I made this thing entirely for my own education and amusement.
It’s also worth pointing out I never quite finished making this thing, hence why some shots seem incomplete, especially near the end.

I might try to throw together a page of storyboards/layouts/animation breakdowns later on. Though people should just read the comic. It’s really very good. Or better still, buy it. It’s Neil Gaiman approved. What more could anyone want?
